Your regular adjustment schedule is designed to consistently support your nervous system and help you build greater adaptability and resilience over time.
But life isn’t always consistent.
Sometimes more stress gets added to the system—physically, chemically, or emotionally. That’s where a Boost Adjustment can come in.
A Boost is simply an additional adjustment outside of your normal schedule that gives your nervous system a little extra support when life is asking more of it.
Here are 10 times to think BOOST:
1. You Feel Something Coming On
Runny nose, cough, congestion, sore throat, ear discomfort, stomach bug—or that “I think I’m coming down with something” feeling.
Your body is already working hard to adapt. This can be a great time to give your nervous system some additional support.
2. Your Child Is Going Through a Growth Spurt
Growing is hard work.
Rapid physical development can place additional demands on a child’s nervous system. If they’re suddenly more tired, uncomfortable, emotional, uncoordinated, or just seem a little “off,” think Boost.
3. Your Little One Is Teething
Teething can temporarily disrupt much more than your baby’s mouth.
If you’re noticing extra fussiness, disrupted sleep, changes in digestion, or difficulty settling during teething, their nervous system may appreciate some additional support.
4. There’s Been a Fall, Injury, or Accident
Kids fall. Athletes get bumped around. Adults tweak things. Life happens.
Whether it’s a tumble off the couch, a hard hit during sports, a minor car accident, or another physical stressor, it’s worth letting us know.
For significant injuries, seek appropriate medical evaluation first. Once you’re cleared, we can determine how chiropractic care fits into recovery.
5. The Seasons or Weather Are Changing
Ever notice that someone in your family seems “off” whenever the weather changes?
Seasonal transitions bring changes in temperature, routines, allergens, daylight, and other environmental demands. Some nervous systems—especially our more sensitive kiddos—have a harder time adapting.
6. Life Is Getting BUSY
Back to school. Sports season. Finals. Travel. Holidays. Late nights. Packed weekends.
Even good things can create stress.
If the calendar suddenly gets crazy, you don’t necessarily have to wait until everyone is exhausted and dysregulated. This is one of our favorite times to Boost proactively.
7. Stress Is Higher Than Normal
Big deadline at work? Tough week at school? Relationship stress? Emotional challenges? Not sleeping well?
Physical and emotional stress can both place additional demands on the nervous system.
When life feels heavier than usual, your nervous system may need some additional support too.
8. Your Family Is Going Through a Big Life Change
Moving. Starting school. A new baby. Changing jobs. Traveling. Losing someone you love. Major changes in routine.
Even exciting changes require adaptation.
If someone in your family is having a harder time regulating through a transition, let us know.
9. You’re Going Through a Medical Challenge or Change
Illnesses, procedures, medication changes, testing, and other healthcare experiences can place additional demands on the body.
Chiropractic care doesn’t replace appropriate medical care. But during these seasons, we may recommend adjusting your normal frequency to provide additional nervous-system support.
10. You’re Starting Something New
Starting OT, speech therapy, counseling, functional medicine, dietary changes, a new exercise program, or another health intervention?
Sometimes the goal isn’t to replace what you’re already doing—it’s to help your nervous system be in the best possible place to adapt and respond to it.
The Easiest Way to Remember It
You don’t need to memorize all ten.
Just remember:
When LIFE goes up, SUPPORT may need to go up too.
Your normal adjustment schedule is your foundation. A Boost is there for those times when your nervous system is being asked to handle a little more than normal.
And you don’t have to decide whether you “need” one on your own.
If something changes—your child gets sick, sleep suddenly falls apart, there’s a big emotional week, someone takes a hard fall, you’re traveling, or you simply notice that someone in your family seems more stressed than usual—text or call us and ask:
“Do you think we should come in for a Boost?”
We’ll help you decide.
Root cause. Real change. For life.
